 Infertility (natural pregrancy)

I am 38 years old, so the medical profession considers me to be of advanced maternal age for conceiving a child. Before coming to see Dr. Zhang, my husband and I had tried for nearly a year to get  pregnant. During that year, I became pregnant, but I suffered an early miscarriage. After the miscarriage, we tried for another six months to become pregnant without success. We became very discouraged and I was convinced that I may never become pregnant. However, we decided to try acupuncture to see if it could help. When we first met Dr. Zhang, we knew we had come to the right place. He listened to our concerns and gave us reassurance that acupuncture could help us. During the first two months of my acupuncture treatment, my husband also received acupuncture  to improve his sperm count. It made us both feel calm and relaxed. After two months of acupuncture, including taking herbal remedies prescribed by Dr. Zhang, I became pregnant! Now I am receiving acupuncture once a week to help me maintain a healthy pregnancy. I am so happy and grateful to Dr. Zhang for helping us to conceive our long-awaited baby.  Infertility (IVF)

I had been through multiple IVF cycles prior to trying acupuncture with Dr. Zhang to help in conception. Dr. Zhang has been able to help me greatly with my anxiety, stress and  insomnia. Infertility (IVF)

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Zhang for 8 months, and he has been an incredible acupuncturist and friend. We started seeing Dr. Zhang after the diagnosis of infertility after 6 months of trying to conceive. Although my hormone levels were in normal parameters, my age was 34, and my husband suffered from low sperm count and motility. We wanted to be sure that we were doing everything we could to support the fertility treatments we were undergoing.

Immediately, Dr. Zhang’s acupuncture treatment and encouragement made me feel better and gave me relief from the severe anxiety and depression I was feeling from the rigorous treatments. My husband’s sperm count and motility increased dramatically over the course of our 8 month treatment, starting with an initial count of 1.5 million per m/l and 4% total motility and a total count of 3.3 million, then increasing to 70 million per m/l with over 60% motility with a total count close to 200 million. Of particular importance were the treatments I received before and after embryo transfer, which helped me feel calm and relaxed with a more hopeful outlook.

Dr. Zhang was so encouraging throughout our treatments. He always listened carefully and offered much support and sympathy during the disappointing times. He was so helpful and accommodating with his treatment of us, particularly around the unpredictable schedule of the IVF treatments.

I believe that the acupuncture treatments that we both received helped us to achieve pregnancy with our second IVF attempt. I continue to see Dr. Zhang for treatment to help with the anxiety and discomfort of early pregnancy.  I don’t know what we would do without him!

I highly recommend Dr.Zhang’s acupuncture treatments as an adjunct to Western fertility treatments, for both male and female infertility.

Allergy

Dr. Zhang -
I just wanted to let you know what a difference your acupuncture has made with my allergies. Up until now , I have had severe allergies 9 + months a year. Weight loss

I am a 35-year old RN, I was always 30-40 pounds over weight since my 20th birthday. I am very careful on my diet and excerise a lot, but I will can't lose weight. Dr. Zhang started working on me 5 weeks ago. He did normal acupuncture as well as ear acupuncture, and gave me some herbal medicine as a tea. After 3 weeks my weight
start going down, I lost 21 pounds now and I keep coming to Dr. Zhang 2 times a month to lose more.

Tendonitis

Dear Dr. Zhang,

I would like to thank you greatly for helping my right medial tendonitis. I was referred to you via a family member, and although I have some basic knowledge of the principles behind acupuncture, I have to be honest that I started treatment with what I can only describe as open minded skepticism. I came to you after two cortisone shots and a round of physical therapy. I cannot claim a miracle cure, but I have noticed a marked improvement. I couldn't throw a ball without pain. Lifting any substantial weight  would hurt, but now I feel I have enough relief to begin to regain full function. Last summer I couldn't play tennis and as I approached a year with the same injury,I wondered when if I would ever heal. Now I am looking forward to playing when

Skin disease

I have had cutaneous vasculitis, a rare autoimmune disorder for six years. I have seen multiple specialists over the years, and none were able to offer any treatment aside from steroids (the side effects of which would have been worse than my condition.) I had heard that acupuncture could help with autoimmune disorders, and while skeptical at first, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try, and if it helped at all it would be amazing to have a tool to alleviate my condition. I found Dr. Zhang and was very impressed with his credentials. At my first appointment
he identified several dietary changes that I needed to make, and within two days of my first treatment, I saw a dramatic improvement in my condition. I have been seeing him regularly for several weeks and my condition continues to improve. I am now hoping for a complete recovery – a much higher expectation than I first came in with. I can’t believe I didn’t try Chinese medicine sooner.

Eczema

I am a 38 years old pediatrician. I has eczema in my hands and feet for more than 10 years, I have been trying many apecialists in Boston area, it just never gone. Sciatica

I became a patient of Dr. Zhang after researching a specialist in Chinese medicine and acupuncture in the west
suburban area. Dr. Zhang's credentials from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and his appointments at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital are top notch. I had been experiencing sciatic and low back pain for a couple of years. Within a couple of weeks of treatment the sciatic pain which had kept me awake was dramatically reduced. IBS
 

Last summer, after a vacation trip, I suddenly began having  extremely uncomfortable symptoms of what seemed to be a digestive disorder: gas, belching after meals, a feeling of being stuffed, even when I hadn't eaten,
anorexia, nausea, a burning feeling in my stomach a feeling of discomfort in my throat, a feeling, in general, of not being well. My doctor did many tests, all of which showed nothing wrong. Her final diagnosis was that,
most likely, I was suffering with acid reflux and IBS.

After several months of trying everything my doctor recommended, without much improvement, I saw Dr. Zhang. I began seeing him twice a week at first and gradually, now, I see him once a week. His treatments have made my
symptoms virtually disappear; I am so much better! I also have more energy and just feel better in general.

Hypertension

I have been suffering from hypertension for more than 20 years. I have taken different kinds of medicine, my blood pressure is up and down and never gets controlled. Car accident

I sought Dr. Zhang out after exhausting my options with western medicine. A back injury, a bad tooth infection and work stress left me feeling like I was 26 going on 76. I chose to try acupuncture for the first time with Dr. Zhang because of his work at Mass General with Harvard Medical School. Although western medicine wasn’t doing much for me, it gave me comfort that he was versed in both eastern and western practices. I was especially interested in his research on the effect of acupuncture on animals, because the results control for purely psychosomatic benefits.
I walked out of my first visit with Dr. Zhang feeling deeply relaxed and somewhat euphoric, to my surprise. Kind of like after getting out of massage. The long term benefits have  been far more profound though. The improvements were gradual at first, but after one month of regular weekly to bi-weekly visits, I was eating, sleeping and exercising normally all without the medicine it used to take feel well enough to get through the day.
I plan to make acupuncture a regular part of my wellness routine going forward and don’t think twice about driving an hour each way to see Dr. Zhang because he’s…just awesome.

Weight loss and back pain

I had severe back pain for more than 10 years, the surgery did not help me much. I still have very bad pain after surgery. I was also 60 pounds over weight. My back pain was 80% off after two acupuncture treatments with Dr. Zhang. After seeing Dr. Zhang for about 4 weeks, my back pain is great and much to my surprise, I lost 18 pounds! Dr. Zhang’s needles and herbal powder did a great job on my body.

Allergies

I have suffered with asthma and allergies all my life. Years on medications, inhalers and immunotherapy. Most recently experiencing sinus pressure, headaches and exhaustion. Chronic pain

Since I began treatment in March with Dr. Zhang, I have been virtually pain free. I have, for over eight years, suffered a chronic condition (Morton's Neuroma) that is experienced as intermittent excruciating foot pain. It had increased in frequency in late winter. Sports injury

My left ankle was badly sprained in soccer games, not once but twice. X ray didn't show anything wrong and it took me one year to rehab, unfortunately I still couldn't run very hard anymore since the ankle even the calf got stiff and hurt once a while. Thanks to your acupuncture treatment, after first 4 sessions, there severe stiffness and pain are gone, and after 6 maintenance sessions, I just feel have a brand new left ankle, and am back the field and enjoy the soccer with my teammates.
